Grey Day on the River Thames

--- London, 1975 ---

Grey day on the River Thames,
Rain, ever so little rain, is in the air.
Yet the grey hides colour,
and the rain clear skies.

That is to say, on days
such as this, which to others are
dead, bleak and all abyss,
I find true hope that

Tomorrow brings light, and
in yet another night, anon,
I too will find bright day,
in your arms.

Forever this river has flown,
And forever the sun has shown,
Yet you and I, for a trice shall know
the armories, the weapons of true love.
